Powerball is an American multi-jurisdictional lottery game offered in 44 states.

The minimum Powerball advertised jackpot is $40 million, paid in 30 graduated yearly installments, increasing 4% each year (unless the cash option is chosen). The jackpot increases when there is no top-prize winner.

Powerball uses a 5/59 (for the white balls) plus 1/35 (for the "PowerBall") double matrix to select its winning numbers. Each game costs $2

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot is 1 in 175,223,510, however the odds of winning some prize 1 in 31.85.

Powerball winners have either 180 days (California non-jackpot prizes only) or one year to claim prizes, including the jackpot (although some Powerball winners lose the right to collect a jackpot in cash if they wait more than 60 days after the drawing).
